How to Get to Cádiz from Jerez and Seville Airports
Outdoors and travel writer covering Cádiz beaches, coastal walks and day trips.
Cádiz has no airport of its own, so every flight lands somewhere else and the last leg is a transfer. Jerez is the easy one: the airport has its own station on the Cercanías line and Aena lists Cádiz at about 57 minutes from it.
Seville has more flights and no direct rail link to Cádiz from the terminal, so it costs you a change in the city. If your fare to Jerez is within a few euros of the Seville one, take Jerez.

Jerez airport to Cádiz by train
The airport station sits on Renfe's Cercanías line C-1, which Aena says runs between the airport and Jerez, Cádiz and the towns round the bay, 365 days a year. Aena puts the journey to Cádiz at roughly 57 minutes, with 9 to Jerez and 19 to El Puerto de Santa María on the way. The airport is in fare zone 5 of the five-zone system, so the fare depends on the zones you cross; the Consorcio de Transportes de la Bahía de Cádiz, which runs the zone map, is the place to price it.
Not every C-1 train goes to the airport. Under the timetable that started on 21 September 2026, Renfe counts three weekday trains in each direction between the airport and Cádiz, alongside 21 that run the Cádiz to Jerez line and stop everywhere. Look up the next airport service before you collect your bags, because a missed one means a wait.
The Seville line also stops here
Aena adds a second option: Renfe's Media Distancia Seville to Cádiz line stops at Jerez airport eight times a day. It is faster, at about 47 minutes to Cádiz, and the same line reaches Seville in about 1 hour 11 minutes. That makes it the useful one if you are flying into Jerez and heading on to Seville, or the reverse.
Check before you go
Fares and the exact departures change with each timetable and are not listed on Aena's pages. Check Renfe for the day you travel, and keep the last train of the evening in mind if your flight is late.
Bus and taxi from Jerez airport
Three bus routes serve the airport, and their calendars differ:
- M-050 runs direct between the airport, Jerez and Cádiz every day of the week.
- M-052 reaches Cádiz via the Puerto Real university campus and El Puerto de Santa María, leaving the airport Monday to Friday only.
- M-053 goes via Hospital de Jerez and runs between Cádiz and the airport Monday to Friday only.
Fares follow the same zone system as the trains, and Aena sends you to the Consorcio for the chart and timetable. At a weekend or on a bank holiday, M-050 is the only one of the three you can count on.
A taxi makes sense for a group or a late arrival. Aena says the airport to Jerez run has an official price, while any other destination, Cádiz included, is charged at the intercity rate, so ask the driver to start the meter and agree how the fare is calculated before you set off. The airport's taxi number is on the Aena page; ask for a receipt in case of a dispute.
Seville airport to Cádiz
Aena's Seville airport page offers bus, taxi and car as ways in, and no train. The usual route is therefore two steps: into the city, then a Renfe train to Cádiz from Santa Justa station. Airport buses accept payment by bank card on board on all Tussam lines, so you do not need a ticket in advance. Check Tussam for the route that reaches the station.
By taxi, Seville charges a flat airport fare for any journey between the airport and the city, with no supplement for luggage, for leaving from Santa Justa station, or for nights and weekends. Aena lists it at €26 on weekdays from 7:00 to 21:00 and €29 outside those hours, at weekends and on public holidays, with the higher fare also applying in Holy Week and during the Feria de Abril. Anything beyond the city, a taxi all the way to Cádiz for example, falls under intercity fares.
For the train leg, the Seville and Cádiz line is the same Media Distancia service that stops at Jerez airport. Fares, departure times and the full journey time from Santa Justa are on Renfe's site for your date.
Málaga as a third option
Málaga is the airport to pick when the flights are better or cheaper. It connects to the city by the Cercanías C1 line, which Aena says reaches Málaga María Zambrano station in about 8 minutes, where Renfe's AVE high-speed trains also call. From there the connection to Cádiz is a longer day than from Jerez or Seville, and the timetable and any change of trains are for Renfe or the bus operators to confirm for your date.
Treat it as a fallback rather than a plan. Counting the airport transfer and the change, you are better off with Jerez if the fare gap is small.
Choosing by arrival time
- Landing at Jerez in the daytime: C-1 train to Cádiz, or the Media Distancia if one is due.
- Landing at Jerez with heavy bags or a late flight: M-050 bus if it is running, otherwise a taxi at the intercity rate.
- Landing at Seville: bus or flat-fare taxi to Santa Justa, then the Renfe train south.
- Landing at Málaga: only if the flight saving justifies a longer transfer with a change.
Once you are in Cádiz, the old town is compact. If you are comparing the other bay towns before you commit to a base, the day trips from Cádiz guide covers them by train, boat and bus, and the Jerez day trip is worth a day if you land there and want to see the town. Arriving by sea is a separate plan, laid out in the Cádiz cruise port day guide.
