Editorial policy
Editorial Standards
Cádiz Experience is an independent travel guide that covers one city and tries to cover it well. This page explains where our information comes from, how we check it, and what happens when something changes or is wrong.
How we research content
We start with primary sources: a monument or museum's official website for hours and admission prices, the Junta de Andalucía's Enclaves Culturales and museum portals for archaeological sites such as Gadir and the Roman Theatre, the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz and Turismo de Cádiz for municipal venues and civic events, and Consorcio de Transportes de la Bahía de Cádiz and Renfe for ferry, bus and rail timetables. Where a body has direct authority over a fact, we go to that source first.
Sources are cited on the pages that rely on them, so a reader can follow any practical claim back to where it came from and verify it before travelling.
Fact-checking methodology
- Primary-source first: for facts with operational impact — opening hours, admission prices, free-entry windows and booking rules — we check the authoritative operator before anywhere else.
- Cross-checking: when a detail is volatile or commonly repeated wrongly across travel sites, we compare multiple official and archival records before publishing.
- Editorial review: every page carries a visible last-updated timestamp that changes only when the content itself is reviewed or revised, never on an automated schedule.
- Stated uncertainty: when hours or schedules shift seasonally — such as summer versus winter museum hours or Levante wind cancellations on the bay ferries — we say so and advise readers to confirm before setting out.
We do not publish a factual claim we cannot source. If a detail cannot be confirmed, we leave it out or state plainly that it is unconfirmed.
Independence and authorship
We take no payment for inclusion or for the way a venue, restaurant, bar or hotel is described. We do not claim visits we have not made, and we do not present marketing copy as our own assessment. Every guide and article carries the byline of the contributor responsible for it; you can read their backgrounds and credentials on the editorial team page.
Updates and corrections
High-priority pages — monument access, transport logistics, itineraries and seasonal events such as Carnival and Holy Week — are reviewed ahead of peak periods and whenever a change is reported. If you spot an outdated price, changed opening time or factual error, email cadizexperience.e1uxn@simplelogin.com or use the contact page with the page URL and the detail to check. We verify against the primary source before updating the page.
Editorial FAQ
How often do you review practical information?
We review pages when we make substantive editorial changes, and we prioritise the details most likely to go stale: Cathedral and watchtower hours, ticket prices, Bay of Cádiz ferry and Renfe schedules, and seasonal Carnival or festival dates. Every page shows the date it was last updated.
Do you accept corrections from readers or local businesses?
Yes. If an opening hour, price or practical detail has changed, email us the page URL and the specific correction. We verify reader reports against the primary source before updating the page.
Does anyone pay to be featured?
No. Nobody pays for a monument, restaurant, bar or hotel to be included or for how it is described, and the site carries no affiliate links at present. If that changes, the pages concerned will say so clearly.
