Listán Wine Tasca: A Wine-First Bar on Plaza de San Antonio

Listán Wine Tasca, a wine bar on Plaza de San Antonio, Cádiz: over 200 wines by the glass, sherry on tap, cold plates only and an average ticket of about €20.

A wine bar that happens to serve food

Listán Wine Tasca opened on 26 May 2022 at number 10, Plaza de San Antonio, in the centre of Cádiz. It is run by a married couple, María Teresa Gómez and Enrique Pérez, and it is built around the glass rather than the plate. Over 200 wines are poured by the glass, many from the Jerez area and the rest of Cádiz province. Go here when you want to taste the province in a glass, not when you want a plate of fried fish. For that, start with pescaito frito.

What is in the glass and on the plate

The bar keeps two solera-style barrels of sherry on tap: Jerez above, with a Fernando de Castilla amontillado, fino and oloroso, and Sanlúcar below, with manzanilla and Pedro Ximénez. A listing in a Cádiz gastroguide counts more than 450 wine references, about half of them from the province, so the by-the-glass list is only part of the cellar.

There is no kitchen. Everything is served cold, and the menu is decided on the day, because the owner walks the stalls of the Mercado Central each morning. Dishes mentioned in the press include a choco (cuttlefish) ensaladilla made without potato and Bay of Cádiz anchovies in vinegar. The house habit is quesos emborrachados, cheeses soaked in local wine rather than port. Expect plates to share, not a hot meal.

The room, the terrace and the classes

There is a terrace on the square, high tables at the entrance and in the first room, and an inner room with a bar and low tables that is used for tastings. The owners run tastings roughly every two weeks, plus WSET level 2 and 3 courses, and say they are the only venue in Cádiz province teaching WSET. In December 2025 the bar took second place for best wine bar at the 2024 Solera awards of the Consejo Regulador del Jerez, behind Gorrión Wine Bar.

Planning the visit

The average ticket is about €20 per person, according to a 2024 interview with the owners. The sources say only that the bar opens every day and give no times, so confirm hours before you walk over. One blogger found service spotty when the large indoor and patio space fills up, so go early or expect to wait. Check the bar's own channels first, since the latest dated evidence in the sources is from December 2025.

Insider tips

What to order

Try the sherry on tap

Two solera-style barrels pour Jerez sherry above (amontillado, fino, oloroso) and Sanlúcar below (manzanilla, Pedro Ximénez). Ask for a glass of each style rather than one large pour.

Pairing tip

Order the cheeses soaked in local wine

The house quesos emborrachados use wines from the province instead of port. They are a good partner for a glass of amontillado or oloroso.

Crowd tip

Go early to avoid slow service

One blogger found service spotty because the indoor and patio space is large and fills up. Arrive before the evening rush if you want attention at the bar.
